Police in Vihiga have launched an investigation after an officer allegedly shot and killed a colleague while they were both on duty at the government fertiliser depot in Esirabe, Luanda.

The suspect is currently at large as security agencies intensify their pursuit.

Luanda Sub-County Police Commander Richard Siele confirmed that the deceased officer, Nicholas Samoei, had died from a gunshot wound to the head.

The suspect, identified as Kevin Omondi, had initially claimed that Samoei shot himself, before switching off his phone and disappearing.

The body has since been moved to the Vihiga County Referral Hospital mortuary, as police appeal to the public for information to help track down the fugitive officer.
