A Nairobi court has barred media personality Alex Mwakideu and his sister Rozina Mwakideu from republishing or distributing a YouTube interview allegedly defaming Pastor Robert Burale over his former marriage to Rozina.

Milimani Chief Magistrate Thomas Nzyoki issued the interim orders pending the hearing of a defamation suit filed by Burale on February 25, 2026.

The interview, titled “My Biggest Mistake Was Marrying Robert Burale,” premiered on October 4, 2025, on the Alex Mwakideu TV YouTube channel.

Burale, a well-known motivational speaker and pastor, claims the interview portrayed him as manipulative and dishonest, injuring his reputation and standing in the community.

In his suit, he seeks 20 million shillings in damages and a permanent injunction to prevent any further publication of the video.

Rozina, who featured in the interview, discussed her marriage and personal challenges, describing decisions she said led to their separation. Her brother Alex hosted the segment on his popular channel.

Burale argues that the content lacked a factual basis and amounted to character assassination. “The interview was false, malicious, and intended to tarnish my image,” said Burale in court documents.

Alex has opposed the suit, arguing that the interview represented Rozina’s personal experiences and fell under the realm of freedom of expression.

“The content reflected her own account and does not amount to defamation,” noted Alex in his affidavit, urging the court to dismiss the case.

The temporary orders now prohibit both siblings from republishing, sharing, or promoting the video until the matter is heard and determined. The case will be mentioned in early March 2026.

Burale’s legal team said the orders were necessary to prevent further reputational damage and potential loss of ministry engagements. The video has since been removed from the channel.
