Two men and a woman who allegedly forced a robbery victim to give them his shoes in exchange for freedom after they robbed him only to find he had no cash are facing charges of violent robbery.

The three are Sheldon Omondi, Caleb Atuti and Kate Tania who are facing charges of robbery with violence contrary to section 295 as read with section 296 (2) of the Penal Code.

They are accused of robbing Peter Kasina Kilonzi of his mobile phone worth Sh37,000 and a pair of shoes worth Sh5000 all valued at Sh42,000 in Pipeline Estate on September 28.

The three robbed Kilonzi of his mobile phone outside a betting shop but he followed them before they disappeared and caught up with them.

The three allegedly ordered him to give them Sh2000 to get back his mobile phone but he did not have the cash prompting them to force him remove his shoes which they went away with.

The matter was reported at the Kware police station and the suspects were traced and arrested. Police officers recovered the mobile phone stolen from Kilonzi, a HMD phone.

The accused persons are accused of using actual violence on Kilonzi during the alleged robbery.

Kilonzi met the three suspects on his way back from the police station and informed police officers on patrol who arrested the suspects and allegedly recovered the mobile phone.

The phone is listed as an exhibit in the case against the three criminal suspects.

The accused persons denied the charges before Senior Resident Magistrate Beatrice Kimemia of Makadara law courts.

They were released on a bond of Sh400, 000 with an alternative cash bail of Sh100, 000.

The case will be mentioned on October 14 2025 before hearing starts on February 5, 2026.
