A sombre silence fell over mourners as former President Uhuru Kenyatta made a deeply personal revelation while eulogizing his longtime friend and banker Frank Ireri.
In an emotional tribute, Kenyatta hesitated before disclosing his own health struggle, saying, “I don’t know whether I should say this,” before revealing that he, too, is battling cancer.
The admission stunned many in attendance, turning what had been a celebration of Ireri’s life into a poignant moment of shared vulnerability.
Kenyatta praised Ireri as a man of integrity, loyalty, and faith, describing him as a “true friend and a pillar of strength.”
“Frank was a good a man and it is his time to rest, when our time comes we shall join him,” lamented the former President.
The news has sparked an outpouring of sympathy and support for the former Head of State, who has largely kept his private life away from the public eye since leaving office.
“May God protect him. He should keep off stress, no one ever does enough in the world. Sometimes it’s good to relax and let others continue doing the hard work,” stated a man on social media wishing Kenyatta a quick recovery.
