A bodaboda rider who allegedly knocked down a business rival’s tooth during a fight for a passenger in the Transami area within Embakasi South is facing charges of causing grievous harm in contravention of section 234 of the Penal Code.

At the Makadara law courts, Peter Ngambi is accused of unlawfully causing the serious injuries to Nzuva Masila on June 19, 2025, jointly with an accomplice at large.

He denied the charge before senior resident magistrate Wandia Nyamu and was released on a bond of Sh100,000 and an alternative cash bail of Sh50,000.

Masila, who is a rider in Mukuru kwa Njenga, had been called by his regular client to pick and pick and drop him in Mlolongo at around 8 pm.

However, Ngambi and his accomplice were offended after Masila picked the client who only trusted him.

The suspect and his accomplice accosted Masila for picking up a passenger and ordered the passenger to alight from the complainant’s motorcycle.

They accused Masila of picking a passenger at their stage.

Masila was allegedly assaulted and swept down by the two who injured him seriously and also damaged his motorbike.

Ngambi and his accomplice allegedly rained blows and kicks on Masila and hit him on the hips, causing him to fall while pushing away his motorbike.

Masila was rescued by members of the public, and a Good Samaritan took him to the hospital.

He later reported the matter at Villa Police station and later recorded a statement over the incident after seeking medication. Ngambi was traced and arrested, and arraigned before the court.

The matter will be mentioned on September 14 for a pretrial.
